For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God’s power we will live with him to serve you. 2 Corinthians 13:4
God of Compassion, we prostrate before you in humble adoration, for you have given us your Spirit of strength, so that our lives may be guided and ruled by you, the one God and Creator of all life. For our Messiah submitted to your Holy Will, and in perfect obedience allowed sinful mankind to scourge, torture and crucify him, being human in nature, subject to all human infirmities, yet undergoing all for the propitiation of our offences.
Father, we commend ourselves to you in like manner, understanding that afflictions will assault our mental, physical and spiritual beings, since we are mortals. By living in pursuit of truth and the nourishment of your Holy Word we can rise above our weaknesses and obtain fortitude through the power of your Spirit working within us.
Jesus was raised from the dead by your divine power and by his own power as God. He abides as man and Mediator, vested with all power in heaven and on earth. We are your children through Christ, who, having assumed his rightful power at your side, continues to assist and strengthen his ministers and ministry. He abides in us and we in him, and with renewed spirit we devote our lives in your service, in the name of Jesus. Amen
