2 Corinthians 4: 16-18

3 September, 2020

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16–18

Dear God, in your constancy of Spirit, you bring us to newness of life with the dawn of each day, reviving our souls to resolutely face the challenges that moving forward in time presents to us. Our lives are but journeys of a finite nature and each passing day draws us closer to our destination which is eternal and infinite, where there is neither sense of time nor dimension. For as long as we are on earth, all things are perishable and our bodies age and decay and weaken with natural tendency. Our spirits, however, undergo continual renovation with invigorating faith and belief. The intrinsic value of our fellowship with you was firmly established by Christ’s sacrifice which released us from the bondage of sin and condemnation and transformed us, renewing our spirits and giving us new life in Christ as recipients of your Divine and eternal providences. May the disparity between our physical and spiritual growth, the body suffering the infirmities of aging and degeneration as a result of our temporal state while the soul surges in upward rapture, give clarity to our purpose of life. Death is not the end, but the beginning of life in our natural, immortal, spiritual state. May your grace gird our souls with strength and your mercy render us abundant consolation as we build up our faith and renew our hearts, keeping our vision on the recompense of reward awaiting us in our Heavenly abode, in Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen
