2 Corinthians 4: 8-10

27 October, 2020

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 2 Corinthians 4:8–10

God of Righteousness, our Sanctuary and our Refuge, you are our Stronghold when, in this life, we are knocked off balance. You are our Strength in our weakness, our Rescuer when lost and our Redeemer when in bondage, Above all, you are our Father, and we worship and adore our King and our God. For you enlighten us when bewildered, renew our faith when it is marred, uplift us in our despair, lending us solace in our grief.

Jesus, our Messiah had revealed that persecution and suffering would be our cross to carry, as his followers and that the consequences of our failing would be separation for eternity, but dedication and consecration of our lives to the Lord would be deliverance and an eternal inheritance in your Heavenly Kingdom in your Divine Presence.

Just as Jesus defeated every enemy when He died on the cross and conquered the grave three days later, it is with confidence in his victory that we can defend ourselves from the evil principalities and powers, stand our ground against the wiles of Satan, who craftily strikes us down and persecutes us when we are most vulnerable.

Carrying the ultimate Truth found in your Word in the person of Jesus Christ, who lives in us, through the Power of your Holy Spirit, we stand firm in our struggle against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. We pray that we remain constant, in prayer, and use the discernment of the Spirit to combat the devil’s attacks and smite and defeat him in Jesus’ Name. Amen
