As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; in Jerusalem you shall find your comfort.- Isaiah 66:13
Merciful Father, you are the God of unparalleled love, inimitable kindness, unshakable promises, who is our provider and comfort, especially in times of utter despondency and misery of the soul. At such times, Lord, you save us, making us whole, with the healing warmth of your abounding mercy, bringing solace to our suffering hearts.
Your Holy Spirit, the indwelling Comforter and Counselor, embraces our shattered selves and gives succour to the brokenhearted, restoring us to spiritual wellness. In much the same manner our earthly mother comforts, guides, teaches, saves us from heartbreak and other worldly cares capable of destroying the spirit, to the extent of sacrificing her own needs and expectations, to repair the damage of her child’s sorrow and pain.
It is only your love Lord that is so great that it can heal a battered life and restore it to wholeness. Your sacrificial love for mankind overflowing with mercy and compassion, compelled our Lord Jesus to descend to earth and pay a heavy ransom for our multitude of sins, with his pure life, restoring both your glory and your children to you.
Lord, only a mother’s tender heart can pour out on her children the greater love that you have given us, never giving up, strong, spirited, pressing on to holiness, to earn righteousness for her child, and we trust we will be favored with your comforting assurances, till all your children, heaven bound, reach their true home. This precious prayer we hope to obtain in Jesus’ Name. Amen
