Jeremiah 31: 33-34

14 September, 2020

This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Jeremiah 31:33–34

Eternal Father, our one true Omnipotent God, we lean our hopes on your steadfast Promises, which are timeless. Just as there is no conformity to time in the heavenly places, your Covenant with us is everlasting, surpassing all time.

Our hearts exult in the glorious grace of your free gift of Salvation through faith, offered to all of mankind, by our beloved Savior Jesus’ death, resurrection and ascension into heaven, where he occupies his rightful throne by your side.

The grace of Salvation through faith and the gift of your Holy Spirit to dwell within us and counsel and direct us are the immense blessings you have given us, through your inexhaustible love and mercy for us, inspite of our waywardness and the enormity of our grievances. We are free from fear of evil, suffering and distress, because we know that you have totally forgiven our iniquities and erased them forever.

The old Covenant, concretely documented for our teaching and understanding, highlighted our unfaithfulness and incapability of upholding your statutes but the new Covenant establishes an eternal relationship with you, Father, because it emphasizes your lasting faithfulness to your treasured creation and your overwhelming grace in forgiving a disobedient people and calling them back into fellowship with you.

You have embellished our faith with the security of your Power, placing us high in your favour, blessed by you to an effectual calling of a higher order of propagating your Holy gospel to all peoples of the world. By imprinting your law on our minds and hearts, your way will be our way too, and we profess to remain faithful to you, through your Holy Spirit and through our Lord Jesus Christ, in whose name your promises endure forever. Amen
