John 7: 37-38

21 September, 2020

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:37–38

All-powerful and Ever Living God, you revealed the extent of your Might and Glory when your Word was incarnated through our Messiah and Lord Jesus Christ, who glorified your Name through his teachings, bringing healing and restoration to all who sought him, and working miracles in your Name.

We witnessed your incredible, awe-inspiring love, mercy, glory and majesty with the coming of our Redeemer, his sacrificial death to save us and his resurrection to bring us to everlasting life. He showed us the Light through the witnessing of his transfiguration, the Way through his suffering and crucifixion, the Life through his resurrection and ascension into heaven and the truth, through the descent of the Holy Spirit upon all who believe, to dwell within us forever, enriching us in faith.

Jesus identifies with the brokenness of our innermost beings. He brings healing to our desperately thirsty heart that is crying for meaning and purpose. As evangelists, in Jesus’ Name, we must contrive to lead people into an authentic relationship with you, the one, true, Living God. All else is superficial and every moral compromise will yield the fruit of falsehood.

In these fearful times, it has become imperative to expose the wrenching pain of our hearts and invoke the Holy Spirit to heal us with the enlightening message of the gospel of truth. Help us Merciful Father, to live a life in Christ, drenched with the living waters of purification and sanctification in the Holy Spirit, and increase our fellowship with you, so that our spiritual quest for the Living God is quenched. All our longings are for you to live in us and we in you, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
