But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. Malachi 4:2
Lord of the universe, you warm the earth with your brilliant light, radiating through the darkness in our lives and enlightening your people with the knowledge of the immensity of your benevolence and mercy. You sent us, as promised, the very light of the world, in the person of your beloved son, our Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Just as the sun is a luminous body, the light of the whole world, so is Christ of the world of men, now, and of the world to come. Christ is the fountain of natural and moral light, as well as of the light of grace, glory and righteousness. Jesus dispels the darkness of the ritual law, making the Gospel the word of the living God.
He dispels the darkness of ignorance and unbelief, converting it into the light of grace. He dispels the darkness of imperfection by illuminating his lucid light of glory. He took away our sins and nailed them to the cross of his crucified body and clothed us with his glorious righteousness by his death, resurrection and ascension into heaven.
As our Mediator between you, Father and your earthly children, he is the head of the church, teaching the mind and will of his and our Father, revealing the hidden mysteries of your grace and leading hearts to conversion. May we grow and flourish in yoking ourselves to Jesus and walking with him in your ways, to become perfect and righteous in your eyes, we pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen
