CHOOSING TO REJOICE IN THE LORD
Though the fig tree does not blossom, and there is no fruit on the vines; though the olive crop fails, and the fields produce no food; though the flock is cut off from the fold, and there are no cattle in the stalls—yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! – Habakkuk 3:17-18
Many of us may find it hard to fully grasp the weight of Habakkuk’s words. In today’s context, it could be expressed like this: even if I lose my job, and jobs are scarce; if the economy crashes, the stock market crumbles, disasters ruin the harvest, and the cost of living soars, I will still choose to rejoice in the Lord.
Our response to life’s events is a choice. While we cannot control our circumstances, we can control our attitude. Recognizing God’s love, mercy, and compassion gives us confidence that He will take care of us regardless of economic downturns or the actions of others. Maintaining a positive mindset requires determination, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can find strength to rejoice, as the Bible assures us that God’s Word is always true.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Heavenly Father, You are so loving and merciful. Even if the world around me falls apart, I will not be afraid. Help me always remember that You will guide me through every challenge, just as You always have. You never change, and Your faithfulness remains constant. I am grateful to know You as Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides. You never abandon me. Strengthen my trust in You, especially in difficult times, so I can praise You and find joy in all circumstances, remembering the eternal reward Jesus has prepared for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
