MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 5th MARCH

THE 5th OF MARCH

WITH JESUS WE MAY HAVE PEACE EVEN IN THE MIDST OF A STORM

And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” – Matthew 14:26-27

In the midst of the storms of life, two of the first instincts of our carnal nature are fear and worry. This kind of reaction does not help us, and on the contrary, makes things worse. The disciples were already scared by the great waves and strong wind, and when they saw Jesus “walking on the sea,” they became even more scared!

What did Jesus do? Did He calm the wind and waves? Did He rebuke them for “screaming” out in fear? Did He walk by them without caring? Certainly not! Jesus knew what was going in their hearts, He understood, loved and answered them “immediately”! He does the same for us, but it is up to us to stop the multitude of negative thoughts and emotions. We need to take the time to enter into the presence of the Lord, so we may hear what He has to say.

Let us never forget that Jesus is always with us and that we have nothing to fear. No matter how awful any situation is that we are in, we are not alone! Jesus, who lives in us through the Holy Spirit, has the solution for any problem and is always ready to help us out.

SUGGESTED PRAYER:

Dear Lord, You never leave me or forsake me! You are always with me when things go right and also when nothing seems to go right. You always have amazing blessings prepared for me! Please help me grow in faith, so I may receive all You have for me. You never force me or anyone else to do what is right. Please help me understand that if there are still people that continue to hurt me, it is not because You do not care or that You do not speak to their hearts to stop and change their evil ways, but it is because they do not want to listen or be obedient to You. I know that the promises of Your Word are for me too and You will cause all things to work together for my good, because I love You and You called me according to Your plan. Hallelujah! Thank You Lord! Amen
