THE “CHIEF CORNERSTONE” IS JESUS CHRIST
It is stated in scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: and he that believes on Him shall not be confounded.” – 1 Peter 2:6
The apostle Peter emphasizes that Jesus transformed the religious system of the Old Covenant by fulfilling all the prophecies of the Old Testament, including the one quoted above from Isaiah 28:16.
The cornerstone is the essential stone that binds and supports two intersecting walls, creating a firm and stable unity. Jesus has been chosen and greatly honored by Father God, and we should honor Him as well. He deserves all our honor, praise, and obedience, not only for what He has done for us but also for who He is.
Jesus reconciled us with God through faith and obedience to Him. For those who reject Christ and disobey the Word, He will become a stumbling stone (Isaiah 8:14-15) and they will face damnation. But for those who choose to follow Him and live in love, honor, and praise, Jesus forgives all our sins, and we will not be judged for them.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Glory and honor to Your holy Name, Lord Jesus, for being who You are! Father God chose You to come as a human, fulfill the law, pay for our sins, and reconcile mankind with God. Thank You, Jesus, for all You have done! You prepared the way for me to walk in love and receive God’s promises, even as a Gentile. Father God, please help me live righteously, fulfill Your call for me, and love and obey You every day of my life. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
