Romans 8: 14-16

8 February, 2021

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Romans 8:14-16

Father in heaven, it gives us immense joy and jubilation to address you as Father and call you Abba, for your Spirit in us has transformed our lives and our faith in the Lord Jesus, as we live in him and he in us, has given us the status of children of the Living God, called to adoption and given sonship and citizenship in the heavenly domains.

Lord, you have released us from the bondage of sin and assure us of a life eternal, through the deliverance our Savior has purchased for us by the shedding of his blood. He has washed us pure and sanctified our souls. We are covered in a new covenant of love. Like a good shepherd, he shields us from danger and evil and steers us from darkness into the healing light of redemption.

Care for us Father, so that we can have community with one another, ministering to others, outside the faith, to spread your Holy word to those prepared to receive it. We have been saved by your grace and our faith and your Spirit has given testimony to our spirits that we belong to the household of God. Lead us, Father on the path of your truth and empower us to stay disciplined in it, to carry out your ongoing ministry throughout our lives with aid from the indwelling Holy Spirit, through which Christ abides in us. Amen
