Romans 8: 22-24a

5 July, 2020

We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Romans 8:22–24a, NIV

Abba Father, Holy God, God of the heavens and the earth, you gave us your Holy Spirit to be with us always, so as to make us safe and secure in your love. And yet, because of our pride, our selfishness and our ingratitude, your whole earth is reeling today, under the weight of our sins. We are fighting an invisible foe as a reminder of our mortal nature. You have brought us to our knees before you and in humble supplication we acknowledge our infidelity and beg for forgiveness. We call on Jesus’ Name, to pull us out of the mire of despair threatening to swallow us, to lead us out of the darkness of hopelessness that envelops us, on to calming waters and into your healing light. Comfort and rejuvenate our souls, with the power of your saving grace. Heed the prayer of your people dear God and save us, even as we plead for your mercy for all the lost and departed souls, for their redemption and salvation. Our hope is in you Lord, as we pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen
