TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
20 NOVEMBER, 2025
Luke 19:41-44
As Jesus drew near Jerusalem,
he saw the city and wept over it, saying,
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace–
but now it is hidden from your eyes.
For the days are coming upon you
when your enemies will raise a palisade against you;
they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides.
They will smash you to the ground and your children within you,
and they will not leave one stone upon another within you
because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
REFLECTION
As Jesus approached Jerusalem and wept over it, His tears revealed the depth of God’s heart for His people. He saw the destruction that would come because they did not recognize the time of God’s visitation. This moment shows us that God’s judgments are never cold or distant—they are born from a love that longs to save. Jesus desired that Jerusalem embrace peace, but their blindness to His presence closed the door to what could have been their blessing.
We too are called to recognize the moments when God draws near. Sometimes His invitations come quietly—in a whisper of conviction, a nudge toward repentance, or an opportunity for peace. When ignored, these moments pass, and the consequences follow. Yet Jesus’ tears remind us that even when we resist Him, His heart remains tender, longing for our return, our openness, and our healing.
This passage invites us to examine our hearts: Are we missing God’s voice in our busyness? Are we resisting His call to forgiveness, obedience, or trust? Jesus weeps not to condemn but to awaken us, so that we may enter into the peace He eagerly desires to give.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your tender heart that weeps over us and longs for our peace. Open my eyes to recognize Your presence, Your warnings, and Your invitations. Remove every hardness, every distraction, and every resistance that keeps me from embracing Your will. Help me to respond promptly and humbly whenever You call. Let Your peace reign in my mind, my home, and my steps. Keep me attentive to Your voice, that I may not miss the grace You desire to pour into my life. Amen
