TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
21 NOVEMBER, 2025
Luke 19:45-48
Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out
those who were selling things, saying to them,
“It is written,
My house shall be a house of prayer,
but you have made it a den of thieves.”
And every day he was teaching in the temple area.
The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile,
were seeking to put him to death,
but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose
because all the people were hanging on his words.
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
REFLECTION
Jesus enters the Temple and drives out those who turned a sacred place into a marketplace. His bold action reveals His deep zeal for the purity of worship and His desire that God’s house remain a place of prayer. Yet even as He teaches daily in the Temple, the leaders reject Him, fearing the truth He speaks. This passage invites us to look within: are there “tables” in our hearts that need to be overturned—distractions, habits, or attitudes that crowd out prayer? Jesus desires to cleanse and renew us so that our inner life becomes a living temple where God is honoured.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, cleanse my heart of every distraction that takes me away from You. Remove anything that keeps me from prayer, from sincerity, or from honouring Your presence in my life. Teach me to guard the sacred spaces within my soul and to welcome Your truth with humility. May my life become a dwelling where Your Spirit can freely move. Amen
