TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
28 MAY, 2026
Mark 10:46-52

As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd,
Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus,
sat by the roadside begging.
On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to cry out and say,
“Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.”
And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent.
But he kept calling out all the more,
“Son of David, have pity on me.”
Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called the blind man, saying to him,
“Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you.”
He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.
Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.”
Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.”
Immediately he received his sight
and followed him on the way.

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In Mark 10:46–52, Bartimaeus, though blind and ignored by the crowd, refuses to remain silent. He cries out to Jesus with faith and persistence: “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Even when others try to stop him, he keeps calling. His faith opens the way for healing.

Like Bartimaeus, we all have moments of blindness — fear, discouragement, pride, or uncertainty. This Gospel reminds us that Jesus hears sincere cries for mercy and asks each of us, “What do you want Me to do for you?” Faith is not only believing that Jesus can help; it is having the courage to call out and follow Him when He responds.

“Take heart; rise, He is calling you.” — Mark 10:49

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, like Bartimaeus, I come before You with my needs, weaknesses, and longing for Your mercy. Open my eyes to see Your presence more clearly and strengthen my faith when I feel discouraged. Give me courage to keep calling on You and grace to follow wherever You lead. Amen
