TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
26 DECEMBER, 2025
Matthew 10:17-22
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Beware of men, for they will hand you over to courts
and scourge you in their synagogues,
and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake
as a witness before them and the pagans.
When they hand you over,
do not worry about how you are to speak
or what you are to say.
You will be given at that moment what you are to say.
For it will not be you who speak
but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Brother will hand over brother to death,
and the father his child;
children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name,
but whoever endures to the end will be saved.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In Matthew 10:17–22, Jesus prepares His disciples for the cost of following Him. He does not promise comfort or safety, but faithfulness in the face of opposition. The warning is sober: betrayal, rejection, and suffering will come—even from those closest to us. Yet woven through this hard truth is a deeper assurance: God’s Spirit will speak through them when they are powerless, and endurance rooted in faith will lead to salvation. Jesus reminds us that discipleship is not about earthly approval but about steadfast trust in God when faith is tested. The passage calls believers to courage, perseverance, and unwavering loyalty to Christ, even when the path is painful.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, You know the cost of faithfulness and the fear that rises when we face rejection or suffering for Your name. Give us courage when we are afraid, wisdom when we are uncertain, and strength when we feel alone. Let Your Spirit speak through us in moments of trial, and help us remain faithful no matter the cost. Teach us to endure with hope, trusting that You walk with us through every hardship. May our lives bear witness to Your truth and love, even in the face of opposition. Amen
