TODAY’S GOSPEL READING – 13 OCTOBER

TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
13 OCTOBER, 2025
Luke 11:29-32.

While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them, “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah.
Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.
At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here.
At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In our journey through life’s ups and downs, it’s natural to seek signs from God for direction. While He does grant special graces, the Gospel reveals the one sign we must prioritize above all others.

Jesus tells us that the most profound sign ever given is His own life, death, and resurrection. This is not only the source of our eternal life but also the clearest guide for all our decisions.

A sign reveals a hidden truth. The truth revealed by Christ’s Paschal Mystery is this: to share in His new life, we must follow His example of selfless, sacrificial love. We are called to lay down our lives for others, helping them discover the new life of the Resurrection.

Practically, when you seek answers, turn your eyes to the life of Christ. In every decision, big or small, ponder how you can more fully imitate Him. Seek to imitate our Lord, and you will discover the only true sign you need to navigate the challenges of life.

PRAYER

Lord Master, I don’t want to chase signs that lead me to nothing. I want to hear You and recognize Your call for greater faith and repentance, like the people of Nineveh. You are greater than Jonah, greater than Solomon. As You speak to me now, my heart and mind are listening. I trust that, as I follow You, something beautiful is forming for my life of faith. Amen
