TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
9 JANUARY, 2026
Luke 5:12-16
It happened that there was a man full of leprosy in one of the towns where Jesus was;
and when he saw Jesus,
he fell prostrate, pleaded with him, and said,
“Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.”
Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said,
“I do will it. Be made clean.”
And the leprosy left him immediately.
Then he ordered him not to tell anyone, but
“Go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing
what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.”
The report about him spread all the more,
and great crowds assembled to listen to him
and to be cured of their ailments,
but he would withdraw to deserted places to pray.
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
The man in this Gospel had shown his great faith and humility to God, the moment he begged our Lord for the healing of his leprosy. Due to the unfathomable love and mercy of our King, He immediately granted his request. Yet one thing that Jesus requested from that man was to go to a Priest and let him be examined. On the contrary, instead of obeying Jesus, that man went away and spread the news about the miracle that he received.
The man had firm fait, and inspite of disobeying the instruction of our Lord, he was not afraid, for he knew that he was not only healed from his physical illness rather, he was healed spiritually as well and it was manifested through his bold witness on what our Lord had done to him.
This happens to us also, especially when we experience instant healing and as a result, we are being led to praise God and to testify about the greatness of His power and His unfathomable love toward us.
Lastly, one thing that is important is to be more spiritually prepared through prayer and by reading the Gospel daily. In addition to this, receiving the Sacraments especially the Sacrament of confession is a must for us to be worthy to receive our Lord in the Holy Eucharist.
Indeed, through our obedience to the teachings and instructions of our Lord handed down to His successors, we will achieve the total healing that we want not only in our physical aspect but spiritually as well.

PRAYER
Lord God, we are all sinners and need Your healing touch. Help us to imitate that leper O God, who humbly came to you and begged for his healing. In the same way grant us more strength and courage to proclaim your Gospel with a greater force. Amen
