TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
2 OCTOBER, 2025
Matthew 18:1-5, 10
The disciples approached Jesus and said,
“Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?”
He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said,
“Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children,
you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven.
Whoever humbles himself like this child
is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.
And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones,
for I say to you that their angels in heaven
always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus teaches that greatness in God’s kingdom is not measured by power, wealth, or status, but by humility and childlike trust. He places a child before His disciples as a living example of innocence, simplicity, and dependence, showing that true greatness comes in lowering ourselves before God. He reminds us that the angels of little ones continually behold the face of the Father, emphasizing their dignity and worth in His sight. This calls us to cultivate humility, openness, and trust, and to treat the vulnerable with care and respect, knowing that they are precious to God.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, we thank You for revealing to us that Your kingdom values humility over pride and simplicity over self-importance. Teach us to embrace childlike faith, to trust You fully, and to walk with a spirit of gentleness and dependence on Your grace. Help us to treat others with the same love and care with which You regard Your little ones, seeing their worth through Your eyes. Protect us from arrogance and selfish ambition, and guide us to live in humility, that we may truly be great in Your kingdom. May the guardian angels appointed for each and every one of us, protect, guide and guard us always. Amen
