TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
13 JANUARY, 2026
Mark 1:21-28
Jesus came to Capernaum with his followers,
and on the sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught.
The people were astonished at his teaching,
for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.
In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit;
he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?
Have you come to destroy us?
I know who you are–the Holy One of God!”
Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!”
The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him.
All were amazed and asked one another,
“What is this?
A new teaching with authority.
He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.”
His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
As Jesus began to teach, a man came with an evil spirit shouting and pointing to Him as God’s holy messenger. Truly it was a proof that demons too knew the identity of our King for they were once Angels of light who rebelled and were cast out from heaven.. So what our Lord did was to silence that man and in this way the plan of God the Father which is to save humanity from sins, was fulfilled.
People were so amazed at what Jesus had done, which was a proof of the greatness of His power as well as His unfathomable love and mercy, for in one command of our Lord that man was released from the evil spirit who tortured him.
This Gospel today is a blessing to us especially now that we are living in the end times wherein the power of evil is arising. The fact is that if we pray to our King and cling to His protection, just like the man who was healed, we too will be freed from the bondage of sin and will be healed physically and spiritually.
We need to come to the Lord with humility, we need to repent and convert from our wicked ways and obey His instructions written in the Bible. And the more we listen and obey, the more we become righteous in His eyes.
PRAYER
I humbly come to you oh God, acknowledging you as my Lord and Savior. Please cast away the fear in me and empower me with your Holy Spirit so I will be able to withstand the test of time. Amen
