TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
24 JANUARY, 2026
Mark 3:20–21

Jesus entered a house,
and again a crowd gathered,
so that He and His disciples
could not even eat.
When His friends heard of it,
they went out
to lay hold on Him,
for they said,
“He is beside Himself.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

This brief passage reveals the intense pressure surrounding Jesus’ ministry. The crowds are relentless, and His total self-giving leaves no space even for rest or meals. In the eyes of those closest to Him, His radical dedication appears excessive, even unreasonable. Love that pours itself out without measure can easily be misunderstood.

Mark shows us a painful truth: following God’s will may lead to misunderstanding, even from those who care for us. Jesus is not driven by public approval or human comfort but by obedience to the Father and compassion for the people. His life challenges us to examine whether we measure faithfulness by convenience or by love.

This Gospel invites us to trust God when our commitment seems misunderstood or questioned. Like Jesus, we are called to remain faithful, anchored not in others’ opinions but in God’s purpose, knowing that true love often costs something.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, You gave Yourself completely to the mission entrusted to You by the Father, even when You were misunderstood and judged. Give me a heart that seeks Your will above human approval and the courage to remain faithful when the path of love is difficult. Help me to trust that You are at work even when my efforts are unseen or misunderstood. Strengthen me with Your grace, that I may follow You with sincerity, perseverance, and peace. Amen
