FOUNDATION OF APOSTOLIC AUTHORITY
The Feast of the Chair of Saint Peter celebrates not a piece of furniture, but the spiritual authority entrusted to Peter as shepherd of Christ’s flock. The “chair” symbolizes teaching authority, unity, and pastoral leadership in the Church. In Peter, the fragile fisherman became the visible rock of communion.
“You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

This feast reminds believers that the Church stands not on human strength but on Christ’s promise. Through Peter’s office, Christ continues to guide, guard, and teach His people across generations.
HUMILITY IN LEADERSHIP
Peter’s authority was born not of perfection but of repentance and love. He denied Christ, yet was restored and entrusted with care for the flock. His leadership grew from humility and dependence on grace.
