And God declared, “Let there be light,” and there was light. – Genesis 1:3

O Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, we exalt Your holy name for Your majesty and power. You are the Alpha, the One who spoke all things into existence. In Your greatness, You simply said, “Let there be light,” and the universe responded. You are the God of glory who shines in unapproachable light, and yet in Your mercy, You brought light into the world so we could behold Your beauty and walk in Your truth. All creation reflects Your brilliance, and we give You praise for the wonder of Your Word and the works of Your hands.

Your first divine command marked the beginning of order out of chaos, illumination out of darkness. It reveals Your sovereignty and the power of Your spoken Word. The light was not created by any sun or star, but by You, who are Light itself. It was the first act of divine separation, distinguishing light from darkness, and it set the stage for all of creation to follow. We are reminded that even in the deepest void, Your Word brings clarity, direction, and life.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, asking You to speak light into the dark places of our lives. Illuminate our hearts with Your truth and drive out the shadows of confusion, fear, and sin. May the light of Christ shine within us and through us, guiding our steps and bringing hope to those around us. Let Your Word continue to create, renew and restore us, as it has since the beginning, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
