Isaiah 40: 29-31

4 December, 2023

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40: 29–31

Lord God, of hope and assurance, of strength and renewal, we rely totally on your help, your rehabilitation of those in dire need, your resuscitation when, depleted of our reserves we lose heart. In gratefulness and absolute faith we wait for you, with the confidence and belief that you are aware of our needs and will fulfill your promises of deliverance of those who, with trust, patience and perseverance, place their lives in your mighty, saving hands.

The battles of life leave us weary and weak and we need our reserves to be replenished, our resilience to be refreshed and our exhausted strength to be renewed. Even the young become despondent and fatigued, their hope diminished and their stamina insufficient to support their needs. When human endurance is challenged, we have hope to only one recourse, the mystical presence of you Lord, in our lives, ready and waiting to carry our burdens, to lighten our weary minds and enhance and recharge our vigour and spent force.

Our Omnipresent God, you renew the determination and spiritual stamina of your faithful followers, by supernatural reserves, when they hope in you and call upon you, placing themselves in your care. We have full faith that those dependent on you will be restored,
protected and preserved by you, their depleted reserves enhanced multifold, to enable them to surge ahead, soaring onward, with the courage of the Spirit of God. We renew this belief in your eternal word through Jesus, our Lord. Amen
