THE 16th OF FEBRUARY
“Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel. Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.” – 1 Kings 18:45-46
God worked through Elijah in an extraordinary way. When we take a moment to reflect on all that he accomplished in just one day, it is truly astonishing. Elijah was not a young man, yet he was sent on a mission to confront a ruthless king like Ahab. Scripture tells us that “the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah.” What incredible power is available to us when the Lord’s anointing rests upon us! It enables us to do what seems impossible and gives us the courage to face even the most daunting challenges. Throughout history, great men and women of faith—such as Joseph, David, and the apostle Paul—experienced this divine power, especially in times of great difficulty.
We have all faced situations where God’s hand rescued us, or where the Holy Spirit empowered us to overcome what seemed insurmountable. If you find yourself in such a situation today, do not lose hope! The Holy Spirit dwells within us, always ready to strengthen and guide us. He waits for us to call upon Him so that He may intervene. With His help, we can conquer our doubts and trust that God will lead us through every trial.
Heavenly Father, I am deeply grateful that You always desire what is best for me and that You never abandon me. Help me to fully surrender to Your lordship and follow Your guidance, as Elijah did. Thank You for Your constant presence and for giving me the strength to fulfill the purpose You have for my life. I am especially thankful for the Holy Spirit, for through Him, I can do all things. Amen
