THE 18th OF MARCH
IF WE CAN CONTROL WHAT WE SAY, WE CAN ALSO CONTROL THE LUSTS OF OUR CARNAL NATURE
For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. – James 3:2
Whoever talks much, errs much! We can all confirm this statement. None of us can truly control every word that comes out of our mouths, and even less can anyone say that the Lord holds full control of their speech.
The apostle James says it plain and simple: “we all stumble in many ways” and not just in one area of our lives. Is God the one that tempts us to sin? Certainly not! We must learn to control our words. Whoever manages to do it is a perfect (mature) man who has learned to obey the Holy Spirit, whose fruit is self-control (Galatians 5:23).
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Lord please help me to keep my heart pure and my mind focused on Your Word, so that the source of my words is pure and life-giving. Please help me fight against all negative emotions, frustrations and worries, because if I do not, I know it will not be long before they will influence the words I will speak and cause me to sin. Lord please help me submit to the Holy Spirit’s warnings and change what I think, feel, say and do according to Your correction. Thank You in the Name of Jesus, Amen
