GOD’S CALL CAN COME AT ANY STAGE OF LIFE
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.”

Saint Bernardino Realino began his career as a successful lawyer and civil official. Although he enjoyed prestige and influence, he realized that worldly success could never satisfy the deepest longing of his heart. Responding generously to God’s call, he entered the Society of Jesus and dedicated the rest of his life to serving Christ. His journey reminds us that it is never too late to surrender completely to God’s plan.
HOLINESS IS FOUND IN HUMBLE SERVICE
“Whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant.”

As a Jesuit priest, Saint Bernardino faithfully served the people of Lecce through preaching, teaching, hearing confessions, and caring for the poor. He never sought recognition but quietly devoted himself to the spiritual and material needs of others. His life teaches that true greatness is measured by loving and serving others with humility.
THE CONFESSIONAL CAN BE A PLACE OF HEALING
“If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins.”

Saint Bernardino spent countless hours in the confessional, patiently reconciling sinners with God. His wisdom, compassion, and gentle counsel drew many people back to the faith. Through this ministry he became an instrument of God’s mercy, showing that forgiveness restores both the soul and the heart.
CHARITY IS THE HEART OF THE GOSPEL

Saint Bernardino was known for his generosity toward the poor, the sick, and those who were forgotten by society. He offered not only material help but also encouragement and hope. His compassionate actions reflected Christ’s love and inspired many to live lives of mercy and kindness.

For more than forty years, Saint Bernardino faithfully served the people entrusted to his care without seeking personal glory. His steadfast dedication transformed countless lives and left a lasting legacy of holiness in the Church. His example encourages us to remain faithful in our daily vocation, trusting that God blesses every act of love done in His name.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, through the example of Saint Bernardino Realino, teach us to seek You above worldly success, to serve others with humility, and to become instruments of Your mercy. Give us generous hearts, steadfast faith, and the courage to answer Your call wherever You lead us. May our lives reflect the love of Christ in every word and action, and may we one day rejoice with all the saints in Your eternal kingdom. Amen.
