GOD CALLS BEYOND HUMAN PLANS
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.”

Toribio was a brilliant lay lawyer in Spain with no intention of entering priesthood, yet he was unexpectedly chosen as Archbishop of Lima. Trusting God’s will, he accepted ordination and episcopal responsibility.
God often leads us into paths we never imagined, asking for trust beyond our understanding.
PRESENCE IS THE HEART OF TRUE MINISTRY
“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless.”
— Matthew 9:36
Toribio traveled thousands of miles across Peru, often on foot, visiting remote villages, baptizing, confirming, and encouraging the faithful personally.
True service is not distant—it is lived through presence, compassion, and closeness to people.
JUSTICE IS AN EXPRESSION OF HOLINESS
“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute.”
— Proverbs 31:8
He courageously defended the indigenous people against exploitation and abuse by colonial authorities, insisting on their dignity and rights.
Holiness is not passive; it actively stands for truth, justice, and the protection of the vulnerable
EVANGELIZATION DEMANDS PERSEVERANCE
“Proclaim the word; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable.”
— 2 Timothy 4:2
Despite harsh terrain, illness, and opposition, Toribio continued his missionary journeys, establishing churches, schools, and seminaries.
Bringing the Gospel requires endurance, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment.
HOLINESS BEARS FRUIT IN OTHERS
“Whoever abides in me and I in him bears much fruit.”

Through his guidance and formation, he nurtured future saints such as Saint Rose of Lima and Saint Martin de Porres.
A life rooted in God inspires and forms holiness in others, multiplying grace across generations.
PRAYER THROUGH THE INTERCESSION OF ST. TORIBIO OF MOGROVEJO
O God of mission and courage,
You called St. Toribio of Mogrovejo
to shepherd Your people across vast lands.
Through his intercession,
give us the courage to follow Your call
even when it leads us beyond our comfort.
Help us to serve others with dedication,
to defend the dignity of every person,
and to bring Your love to those in need.
May we, like St. Toribio,
be faithful servants of the Gospel
in every place You send us.
Through Christ our Lord.
