TODAY’S GOSPEL READING – 1 NOVEMBER

TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
1 NOVEMBER, 2025
Matthew 5:1-12 a

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain,
and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
He began to teach them, saying:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

As Jesus sat on the mountainside and began to teach, He revealed the heart of God’s kingdom through the Beatitudes. These blessings overturn worldly values, lifting up the poor in spirit, the meek, the merciful, and the pure in heart. Jesus assures that true happiness does not come from wealth, status, or comfort, but from living in humility, compassion, and righteousness. Each Beatitude reflects a deeper invitation—to align our hearts with God’s will and to trust that His rewards, though unseen, are eternal and sure.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, You call us to live according to the values of Your kingdom, not the standards of the world. Teach us to find joy in humility, to seek righteousness even when it costs us, and to show mercy and peace where there is pain and conflict. Strengthen us when we are persecuted for Your name, and remind us that our reward is in heaven. May our lives reflect the light of Your Beatitudes, drawing others closer to You. Amen
