TODAY’S GOSPEL READING – 10 DECEMBER

TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
10 DECEMBER, 2025
Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus said to the crowds:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

Jesus speaks with tender authority to all who are weary and burdened, offering not condemnation but rest. He recognizes the deep fatigue of the human soul—exhausted by suffering, responsibility, guilt, and unmet expectations—and invites us to come to Him just as we are. His call is personal and compassionate, assuring us that rest is not found in escape, but in relationship with Him.

Jesus asks us to take His yoke and learn from Him. Unlike heavy yokes imposed by fear, legalism, or self-reliance, His yoke is gentle and His burden light. This does not mean life becomes effortless, but that we no longer carry it alone. Walking in step with Christ reshapes our hearts, aligning us with His humility and trust in the Father, and brings a deep, lasting peace.

True rest, as Jesus promises, is rest for the soul. It is the quiet confidence that arises when we surrender control, release our anxieties, and allow Christ to lead. In learning from Him daily, we discover that obedience rooted in love brings freedom, and dependence on Him brings renewal.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I come to You weary and burdened, just as You invite me. I lay down the weights I have been carrying—my worries, fears, and struggles—and place them in Your loving hands. Teach me to trust You more deeply.

Give me the grace to take up Your yoke and learn from Your gentle and humble heart. Walk with me through my days, guiding my steps and shaping my spirit to reflect Your peace. Help me to surrender my need to control and to rest in Your presence.

Grant rest to my soul, Lord, and renew my strength each day. May my life be anchored in You, and may I find in You the true rest that endures. Amen.
