TODAY’S GOSPEL READING – 10 JANUARY

TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
10 JANUARY, 2026
John 3:22-30

Jesus and his disciples went into the region of Judea,
where he spent some time with them baptizing.
John was also baptizing in Aenon near Salim,
because there was an abundance of water there,
and people came to be baptized,
for John had not yet been imprisoned.
Now a dispute arose between the disciples of John and a Jew
about ceremonial washings.
So they came to John and said to him,
“Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan,
to whom you testified,
here he is baptizing and everyone is coming to him.”
John answered and said,
“No one can receive anything except what has been given from heaven.
You yourselves can testify that I said that I am not the Christ,
but that I was sent before him.
The one who has the bride is the bridegroom;
the best man, who stands and listens for him,
rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice.
So this joy of mine has been made complete.
He must increase; I must decrease.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

The Disciples of John were disturbed for people kept coming to our Lord to be baptized. So they told John about it, and due to John’s humility he was not upset rather, he emphasized again to them that he was not the Messiah.

On the other hand, John was sent to pave the way of our Lord and we knew that he was already chosen even in his mother’s womb. Moreover, he died with courage in his heart, while his holiness and love for the truth serving as our inspiration, especially in these crucial days.

It was his mission to reveal the identity of our King as the true Messiah and everything was accomplished. Truly, these things brought happiness in his heart, for he knew he did his mission well, with humility and with great love.

PRAYER

My Lord and my God, although there are moments that I experienced spiritual dryness due to the worldly things that dragged me away from you, yet these words keep coming back into my mind; the truth that you have come not for respectable people but for the outcasts. Oh my precious Savior, make me worthy to be called as one of your children of light and let these words be instilled in my mind, “All for your greater glory oh God”. Amen
