TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
11 JULY, 2025
Matthew 10:16–23

“Behold, I am sending you like sheep among wolves; therefore be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
You will face persecution—handed over to councils, scourged, witnessed before rulers.
Do not worry about what to say—the Spirit of your Father will speak through you.
Families will be divided, and enduring to the end brings salvation.
When persecuted in one town, flee to the next, for the Son of Man has not come until all towns of Israel are reached.

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

Jesus warns His disciples that following Him will not be easy. They will be like sheep among wolves, facing persecution, betrayal, and hatred for His name. Yet, He encourages them to be wise and innocent, trusting that the Spirit of God will give them the words to speak. This passage is a sobering reminder that discipleship comes with a cost, but also with the assurance of God’s presence, strength, and ultimate deliverance. Faithfulness in trials becomes a powerful witness to the world.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, You have called us to follow You, even through difficult and dangerous paths. Give us the wisdom of serpents and the innocence of doves. Strengthen us when we are afraid, and speak through us when we are at a loss for words. Help us remain faithful in trials, trusting in Your Spirit to guide and sustain us. May our lives reflect Your truth and love, even when it costs us everything. Amen
