TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
15 JUNE, 2025
John 16:12-15
(SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY)

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘I still have many things to say to you
but they would be too much for you now.
But when the Spirit of truth comes
he will lead you to the complete truth,
since he will not be speaking as from himself
but will say only what he has learnt;
and he will tell you of the things to come.
He will glorify me,
since all he tells you
will be taken from what is mine.
Everything the Father has is mine;
that is why I said:
All he tells you
will be taken from what is mine.’

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this passage, Jesus speaks tenderly to His disciples, acknowledging that there are many truths they are not yet ready to bear. He promises the coming of the Spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit, who will guide them into all truth. This reassurance reveals Christ’s deep understanding of human limitations and His provision for growth through divine help. The Spirit does not speak on His own but relays what He hears from the Father and the Son, showing the perfect unity within the Trinity. This passage reminds us that our journey of faith is a continual unfolding, led by the Holy Spirit who glorifies Christ and reveals His truth progressively in our hearts.

PRAYER

Gracious Lord, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who guides us gently into all truth. Just as You were patient with Your disciples, be patient with us as we seek to grow in understanding and faith. Help us to be attentive to the Spirit’s voice, open to His guidance, and faithful to walk in the truth He reveals. May our lives bring glory to You, Jesus, as we learn to live in the light of Your wisdom. You are the Bread of Life. Amen
