TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
18 OCTOBER, 2026
Matthew 22:15–21

The Pharisees went and plotted how they might trap Jesus with His words. They sent their disciples to Him along with the Herodians.

They said, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth. You are not concerned with anyone’s opinion, for You do not regard a person’s status.

Tell us, then, what is Your opinion? Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?”

Knowing their malice, Jesus said, “Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites? Show Me the coin that pays the census tax.”

Then they handed Him a Roman coin.

He said to them, “Whose image is this and whose inscription?”

They replied, “Caesar’s.”

At that He said to them, “Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

Jesus reminds us that while we have responsibilities in this world, our hearts ultimately belong to God.

The world may measure your worth by your money, achievements, position, or success. But God sees something much deeper. He sees your heart, your faith, your love, and the person you are becoming.

Do your work honestly. Take care of your family. Fulfill your responsibilities. But never allow money, success, or worldly concerns to take the place of God in your life.

Give the world your honest work, give others your love, and give God your whole heart.

Remember, you are created in the image and likeness of God. Your value is not determined by what you own or what others think of you. You belong to Him.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me in Your image and loving me unconditionally.

Teach me to fulfill my responsibilities with honesty, wisdom, and love. Help me put You first in everything I do. When I worry about my finances, my family, and my future, remind me to trust in Your guidance.

Protect my family, provide for our needs, strengthen our faith, and help us make decisions that honor You.

May my words reflect Your goodness, my actions demonstrate Your love, and my life bring glory to Your name.

Everything I have comes from You. Today, I surrender my worries, my plans, and my future into Your hands. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
