TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
2 DECEMBER, 2025
Luke 10:21-24
Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,
“I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows who the Son is except the Father,
and who the Father is except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
Turning to the disciples in private he said,
“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
For I say to you,
many prophets and kings desired to see what you see,
but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In this beautiful moment of praise, Jesus rejoices in the Holy Spirit and thanks the Father for revealing divine truths not to the proud or learned, but to the humble and childlike. This passage reminds us that God’s deepest treasures are not unlocked by intellect or status, but by simplicity of heart, openness, and trust. Jesus celebrates the Father’s gracious will and invites us into that same posture of gratitude and wonder.
We are also reminded that the disciples were blessed beyond measure to witness what prophets and kings longed to see. Jesus reveals that true knowledge of the Father comes only through Him, and He chooses to reveal Himself to those whose hearts are ready. It is a call to cherish the grace we have received—the faith, the Word, the presence of Christ—and to recognise how privileged we are to know Him.
This reflection encourages us to cultivate a humble spirit, to approach God with childlike trust, and to be grateful for the revelation of Christ in our lives. As we cherish His Word, we become more aware of the blessings He unfolds daily—blessings that many longed for but never saw. May we never take His grace for granted.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I thank You for revealing the Father’s heart to those who come with humility and openness. Fill me with the same joy that overflowed from You as You praised the Father, and help me approach Your truths with a childlike spirit.
Grant me the grace to recognise the precious gift of knowing You. Help me treasure Your Word, Your presence, and the Holy Spirit who guides me. May I always remain receptive to Your revelation and walk in gratitude for the blessings You pour out.
Keep my heart humble, my spirit teachable, and my eyes open to the wonders of Your love. Let me never take for granted what prophets longed to see but could not. Reveal Yourself to me more deeply each day, and help me live in the light of Your grace. Amen
