TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
23 SEPTEMBER, 2025
Luke 8:19-21
Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd.
Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus redefines the concept of family. While earthly ties are precious, He emphasizes that true kinship with Him is rooted in obedience to God’s word. To be His mother, brother, or sister is not a matter of bloodline, but of faith and action. By hearing God’s word and living it out, we enter into an eternal family bound by love and truth. This challenges us to place God above all, even above natural relationships, and reminds us that our greatest identity is found in being children of God.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for welcoming us into Your family through faith and obedience. Help us to listen attentively to Your word and to live it out daily with love, humility, and courage. Strengthen us to prioritize our relationship with You above all else and to extend the bonds of spiritual family to those around us. May we always remain faithful members of Your household. Amen
