TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
25 DECEMBER, 2025
Luke 2:1–14
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.
And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and thea glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased.”

REFLECTION
The birth of Jesus reveals a God who chooses humility over power and closeness over distance. The Savior of the world does not arrive in a palace but in a manger, welcomed not by kings but by shepherds. In this simple and fragile beginning, God shows us that His love enters our lives quietly, often in places we least expect.
Christmas reminds us that God meets us where we are—amid our ordinary routines, uncertainties, and struggles. The child in the manger is Emmanuel, God-with-us, bringing light into every darkness and hope into every human heart. His coming invites us to make room for Him, not in grand gestures, but in humble faith and open hearts.
The angels’ song of peace is not just a heavenly announcement but a call to live differently. When we receive Christ, we become bearers of that peace—bringing kindness, mercy, and joy into a world longing for healing and love.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, born in humility and wrapped in love,
we welcome You anew into our hearts this Christmas.
Thank You for coming to dwell among us,
for choosing simplicity, tenderness, and mercy
to reveal the greatness of Your love.
Fill our hearts with the peace proclaimed by the angels.
Help us to recognize You in the quiet moments of our lives
and in the people we encounter each day.
May Your light guide our steps,
Your love shape our actions,
and Your presence remain with us always. Amen

TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
25 DECEMBER, 2025
John 1:1-18
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came to be through him,
and without him nothing came to be.
What came to be through him was life,
and this life was the light of the human race;
the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it.
A man named John was sent from God.
He came for testimony, to testify to the light,
so that all might believe through him.
He was not the light,
but came to testify to the light.
The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
He was in the world,
and the world came to be through him,
but the world did not know him.
He came to what was his own,
but his own people did not accept him.
But to those who did accept him
he gave power to become children of God,
to those who believe in his name,
who were born not by natural generation
nor by human choice nor by a man’s decision
but of God.
And the Word became flesh
and made his dwelling among us,
and we saw his glory,
the glory as of the Father’s only Son,
full of grace and truth.
John testified to him and cried out, saying,
“This was he of whom I said,
‘The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me
because he existed before me.’”
From his fullness we have all received,
grace in place of grace,
because while the law was given through Moses,
grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
No one has ever seen God.
The only Son, God, who is at the Father’s side,
has revealed him.

REFLECTION
John 1:1–18 opens our hearts to the profound mystery of the Word made flesh. From all eternity, the Word existed with God and was God—source of all life, light, and truth. In Jesus, this eternal Word enters human history, not in power or spectacle, but in humility and grace. The Light shines into the darkness of the world, and though darkness tries to resist it, it cannot overcome it. This passage invites us to behold the wonder of God choosing to dwell among us, to share our fragile humanity, and to reveal the fullness of divine love.
The Gospel reminds us that faith is a response to this gift. To receive Christ is to become a child of God, not by human effort or merit, but by grace. In Jesus, God draws close, making Himself known not as distant or unreachable, but as compassionate and full of truth. The incarnation assures us that God understands our struggles, walks with us in our weakness, and offers us new life through His presence.
PRAYER
Loving Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Word made flesh, who came to dwell among us and reveal Your boundless love. Through Jesus, You have shown us Your mercy, Your truth, and Your desire to be close to Your people. We praise You for the light that shines in the darkness, bringing hope where there is fear and life where there is despair.
Grant us the grace to receive Your Son with open hearts and humble faith. Help us to live as children of the light, reflecting Your love in our words, choices, and actions. When we struggle or feel lost, remind us that Your presence remains with us, guiding and strengthening us each day.
May Your Word continue to take flesh in our lives, shaping us into instruments of Your peace and witnesses of Your love. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
