TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
26 SEPTEMBER, 2025
Luke 9:18-22
Once when Jesus was praying in solitude,
and the disciples were with him,
he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”
They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah;
still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’”
Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Peter said in reply, “The Christ of God.”
He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.
He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly
and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus asks His disciples who people say He is, and then directly asks, “But who do you say I am?” Peter boldly confesses Him as the Christ of God. This moment reveals the heart of true discipleship: recognizing Jesus not just as a teacher or prophet, but as the Messiah who brings salvation. Yet Jesus also foretells His suffering, rejection, death, and resurrection—reminding us that His mission is not about earthly power but about sacrificial love. Our faith, therefore, must not only acknowledge His identity but also embrace the path of the cross, trusting in the hope of resurrection.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I praise You as the Christ of God, the One who came to save and redeem the world. Thank You for revealing Yourself to us through Your Word and Spirit. Strengthen my heart to confess You boldly in my life. Help me to accept not just the glory of Your name, but also the reality of Your cross. Teach me to follow You with humility, courage, and steadfast faith, knowing that Your suffering has brought me life and Your resurrection gives me hope eternal. Amen
