TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
26 JANUARY, 2026
Mark 3:22-30
The scribes who had come from Jerusalem said of Jesus,
“He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and
“By the prince of demons he drives out demons.”
Summoning them, he began to speak to them in parables,
“How can Satan drive out Satan?
If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
And if a house is divided against itself,
that house will not be able to stand.
And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided,
he cannot stand;
that is the end of him.
But no one can enter a strong man’s house to plunder his property
unless he first ties up the strong man.
Then he can plunder his house.
Amen, I say to you, all sins and all blasphemies
that people utter will be forgiven them.
But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit
will never have forgiveness,
but is guilty of an everlasting sin.”
For they had said, “He has an unclean spirit.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In Mark 3:22–30, Jesus faces a grave misunderstanding: His life-giving work is attributed to evil. This passage reveals how hardened hearts can twist truth when pride and fear close the door to faith. Jesus patiently exposes the illogic of such thinking and points to the deeper danger—not ignorance, but the deliberate refusal to recognize God’s Spirit at work. The warning about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit calls us to examine our openness to grace and our readiness to name good as good when God acts in unexpected ways.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, You are the source of all goodness and truth. Guard our hearts from pride, fear, and stubbornness that blind us to Your work. Give us humble and discerning spirits, ready to welcome the movement of Your Holy Spirit in our lives and in the world around us. Keep us faithful in recognizing Your grace and bold in bearing witness to Your saving love. Amen
