TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
29 APRIL, 2026
John 12:44-50
Jesus cried out and said,
“Whoever believes in me believes not only in me
but also in the one who sent me,
and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me.
I came into the world as light,
so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness.
And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them,
I do not condemn him,
for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world.
Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words
has something to judge him: the word that I spoke,
it will condemn him on the last day,
because I did not speak on my own,
but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and speak.
And I know that his commandment is eternal life.
So what I say, I say as the Father told me.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus speaks with urgency and clarity about His identity and mission. He declares that to believe in Him is to believe in the One who sent Him. Faith in Christ is not partial—it draws us into a living relationship with God the Father. Jesus presents Himself as light, sent into the world so that no one who believes in Him should remain in darkness.

This light is not merely for comfort; it reveals truth. It exposes what is hidden and calls for a response. Jesus does not come to condemn, but to save. Yet, there is a quiet seriousness in His words—if His message is rejected, that very word will stand as a witness. The truth we hear is not neutral; it shapes our destiny.

He reminds us that His words are not His own but come from the Father, and those words lead to eternal life. This shows us that obedience to God is not a burden but a path to life. To listen, trust, and follow Christ is to walk in light, clarity, and purpose.

For us today, this passage asks a simple but deep question: Are we truly allowing the light of Christ to guide our thoughts, choices, and actions? Or do we prefer certain areas of shadow where we remain in control? Jesus invites us to step fully into His light, where there is truth, freedom, and life everlasting.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, You are the light sent into this world to lead me out of darkness. Help me to believe in You with a sincere and trusting heart. Teach me to listen to Your word and to follow it faithfully, even when it challenges me.

Remove from me any fear or resistance that keeps me from walking fully in Your light. Give me the grace to choose truth over comfort and obedience over self-will. Let Your words take root in my heart and guide my life toward what is good and eternal.

Thank You for coming not to condemn but to save. Keep me close to You, so that I may live in the light of Your presence and share that light with others. Amen
