TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
29 SEPTEMBER, 2025
John 1:47-51

Jesus saw Nathan’a-el coming to him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!”

Nathan’a-el said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

Nathan’a-el answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”

Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these.”

And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In Heaven, we will see with God’s perfect clarity and be amazed by how the celestial beings—the Seraphim, Cherubim, and all the choirs of angels—work in harmony to bring about God’s Kingdom. They are like a divine orchestra with God as the Conductor, acting as living instruments of His grace.

Today’s feast honors three great Archangels from Scripture: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. St. Michael is our protector, the warrior who battles Satan. St. Gabriel is the divine messenger who announced to the Blessed Virgin Mary that she would be the Mother of the Savior. St. Raphael is the angel of healing, sent to restore Tobit’s sight.

These three are part of a countless host of angels building God’s Kingdom. Some offer perpetual worship, while others, like our guardian angels, intervene in our lives. The Archangels, in particular, deliver God’s most vital messages.

Let us reflect on this glorious reality and call upon the protection of Archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and our guardian angel. By doing so, we entrust ourselves to their care and profess our faith in God, who uses them to bring His will to fruition. Angels act only in unison with God, so their mediation is as powerful as the grace of God working through them. Acknowledge them today and ask for their help.

PRAYER

Glorious Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, come to our aid. I entrust myself, my family, the Church, and the world to your loving intercession. Bring God’s grace, communicate His Word and holy Will, protect us from harm, and heal the needy. Angels of God, pray for us. Jesus, I trust in You. Amen
