TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
5 MAY, 2025
John 6:22-29
[After Jesus had fed the five thousand men, his disciples saw him walking on the sea.]
The next day, the crowd that remained across the sea
saw that there had been only one boat there,
and that Jesus had not gone along with his disciples in the boat,
but only his disciples had left.
Other boats came from Tiberias
near the place where they had eaten the bread
when the Lord gave thanks.
When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there,
they themselves got into boats
and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.
And when they found him across the sea they said to him,
“Rabbi, when did you get here?”
Jesus answered them and said,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me
not because you saw signs
but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
Do not work for food that perishes
but for the food that endures for eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you.
For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.”
So they said to him,
“What can we do to accomplish the works of God?”
Jesus answered and said to them,
“This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
REFLECTION
This Gospel speaks of our sincerity in following the Lord and indeed our authenticity as a true believer of Christ is a must. The crowd that time had followed our King yet some of them had good intentions and had listened on what
He taught but others did not comprehend His teaching and analyzed the importance of the miracles that He performed. This was done by some of us whose goal is for self glorification and not intently to speak God’s Word so many will be converted and be saved.
One more thing is when we talk on how to become a true disciple of Christ whose goal is to uphold the truth to those who are living in sins, those who never seen the Lord and haven’t felt His presence for those people badly need our help. That is the reason why we have to focus to this kind of people and aim for their true repentance and true conversion for in this way many will enter the Kingdom of God.
It is our task to pray with humility and keep our souls secured in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ who longed for everyone to be saved and not to be carried away by what is worldly for such things will pass while God’s Word will never pass and if we listen, believe and obey definitely we will be saved.
PRAYER
My King and my God, please keep my soul secured as I walk on the way to holiness. Cover me with the shed of your blood from the Cross as I learn to imitate the Saints who had done their apostolate here on earth whose goal was not for their glorification but to honor you not only with their lips but with their action since action speaks louder than words. Amen
