TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
6 MAY, 2025
John 6:30-35

The crowd said to Jesus:
“What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you?
What can you do?
Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written:

He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”

So Jesus said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven;
my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven
and gives life to the world.”

So they said to Jesus,
“Sir, give us this bread always.”
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life;
whoever comes to me will never hunger,
and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this passage, the crowd asks Jesus for a sign, referencing the manna given to their ancestors in the wilderness. Jesus redirects their focus from physical sustenance to the true bread from heaven—Himself. He emphasizes that He is the Bread of Life, offering not just daily nourishment but eternal satisfaction. This challenges us to examine what we truly hunger for. Are we seeking temporary relief or the lasting fulfillment that only Christ can give? Trust in the Lord!

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, Bread of Life, You know the hunger of my heart and the emptiness that earthly things cannot fill. Help me to seek You above all else and to trust that in You, I will never thirst or hunger again, but have sustenance for eternity. Nourish my soul with Your truth, strengthen me with Your presence, and lead me to live in Your love each day, as I place my trust in You. Amen
