TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
8 OCTOBER, 2025
Luke 11:1–4

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say:
‘Father, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this brief yet profound passage, Jesus reveals the essence of prayer — a simple, sincere conversation with God as our loving Father. The Lord’s Prayer captures the heart of a true relationship between humanity and the Divine. It begins with reverence for God’s holiness, moves to submission to His will, and expresses trust in His daily provision and mercy. It also calls us to live out forgiveness, mirroring the compassion we ourselves receive. Through this prayer, Jesus invites us not only to speak to God but to align our hearts with His kingdom purposes, living in daily dependence and humility.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching us to pray and for calling us Your children. Help us to honor Your holy name in all we say and do. Provide for our needs each day and remind us that all we have comes from You. Forgive us our sins, Lord, and give us hearts ready to forgive others as You have forgiven us. Strengthen us to resist temptation and to walk faithfully in Your ways. May our lives reflect the spirit of this prayer — humble, trusting, and filled with love for You and others. Amen
