TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
9 MAY, 2025
John 6:52-59

The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,
“How can this man give us his Flesh to eat?”
Jesus said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood,
you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood
has eternal life,
and I will raise him on the last day.
For my Flesh is true food,
and my Blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood
remains in me and I in him.
Just as the living Father sent me
and I have life because of the Father,
so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.
This is the bread that came down from heaven.
Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died,
whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this passage, Jesus speaks of giving His flesh to eat and His blood to drink, a teaching that confounds and challenges His listeners. It calls us to a deep faith in the mystery of the Eucharist, where Christ offers Himself completely for our spiritual nourishment. This radical gift reveals the depth of God’s love and invites us into an intimate union with Him. Believing in this mystery is not just about understanding—it is about trusting and receiving. As we partake in His Body and Blood, we are drawn into the life of Christ, and He abides in us.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus,
You offered Yourself as the Bread of Life, that we might have eternal life through You.
Help us to believe even when we do not understand, to trust even when we are challenged.
Nourish our souls with Your presence in the Eucharist.
Draw us ever closer to You, and let us live in Your love and truth each day.
Amen
