TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
30 JULY, 2025
Matthew 13:44-46
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
The Gospel teaches us essential virtues for Christian living. These virtues inspire us to seek God’s kingdom with wholehearted devotion, wisdom, and generosity.
It involves radical commitment and surrender to God’s Will.
The man in the parable sells everything to buy the field containing the treasure, showing that the kingdom of heaven is worth more than worldly possessions. This teaches us to prioritize God above all else, trusting Him completely.
We need wisdom to discern true value. The merchant knows the worth of the pearl and acts decisively, showing spiritual discernment. We must cultivate wisdom to recognize what truly matters in life—eternal treasures over fleeting pleasures.
Generosity, which is sacrificial Love for the Kingdom is also essential. Both parables involve giving up everything for something greater, reflecting Christ’s own sacrificial love. True discipleship requires self-giving, just as Jesus gave Himself for us.
PRAYER
Father in heaven, may we, by embracing the virtues of surrendering to Your Holy Will, discerning the true value of the eternal treasures of Your Kingdom, and living in generous and sacrificial Love, give up earthly longings to align our lives with the kingdom of heaven, where true joy and fulfillment are found. May we, like the seekers in the parables, value the pearl of great price above all else. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen
