TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
4 APRIL, 2026
Matthew 28:1-10
“After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulchre. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.
But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid; for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. Lo, I have told you.’
So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, ‘Greetings!’ And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.’”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
The Resurrection begins in a quiet yet powerful moment—at dawn, when darkness gives way to light. The women come to the tomb with sorrow, but they encounter something beyond all expectation: the victory of life over death.
Their journey reflects our own spiritual journey. We often approach God carrying grief, confusion, or unanswered questions. Yet, in those very moments, God reveals His power and faithfulness.
The angel’s words, “Do not be afraid,” echo throughout the Resurrection story. Fear is replaced with hope, and despair is transformed into joy. The women respond immediately—they run to share the good news. True encounter with Christ always leads to action.
Then comes the most beautiful moment: Jesus Himself meets them. Before any grand mission, there is a personal encounter. They fall at His feet in worship, recognizing that He is truly alive.
Jesus repeats the message: “Do not be afraid.” This reassurance is for us today. No matter what we face, the Risen Lord walks ahead of us, calling us to trust and to share His joy with others.

PRAYER
Risen Lord Jesus,
In moments of fear and uncertainty,
help me to hear Your voice saying, “Do not be afraid.”
Fill my heart with the joy of Your Resurrection,
and help me to trust in Your promises.
Like the holy women,
give me the courage to seek You faithfully
and to proclaim Your love without hesitation.
Let my life be a witness to Your victory over sin and death,
and lead me always into the light of Your presence. Amen
