Isaiah 40: 1-2

10 January, 2021

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD’s hand double for all her sins. Isaiah 40:1-2

Lord, you are Glorious and Benevolent, our consolation and our benefactor. We call out your Holy Name and you come to our rescue. How great is our God! You forgive our iniquities when we kneel before you in tearful repentance. You sanctify us and remember our offences no more.

Lord, through Jesus, you have given us deliverance, lifted the burden and shackles of our transgressions and destroyed them, transforming us by giving us new hearts and a new covenant. Upon reparation for our grievances, you have caused our latter state to be greater than our former state.

We invoke your continued assistance Lord, through the constant comfort of your Holy Spirit, to direct our steps onto the path of righteousness that will lead us to you. We ask pardon for all the times we have crushed you by increasing the burden of our sins. We stand, in humble submission, supplication and repentance, with the acknowledgement that you, and you alone, can reinstate our restored beings through your loving grace and mercy in the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen
