Matthew 4:4

7 March, 2022

But He answered and said, “It is written, – Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'” – Matthew 4:4

God of Creation, Infinite of Majesty, you sent your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to become our Savior and Messiah, redeeming the world from the throes of sin and eternal death and restoring humanity to you for the sake of your Glory. Jesus’ supernatural birth also gave birth to the Triune Godhead of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, so that man would be saved and healed, sanctified and reconciled to you forevermore, by abiding in Jesus and having the Spirit indwell in him till the end of the ages.

Jesus was compelled to go through human tribulation and temptation by the evil one to prove his divinity and to defeat the purpose of the devil by staying strong in his affiliation to the Holy Will of his Father. At the point of human vulnerability when lesser humans had caved in, the same way Adam had done, Jesus countered the evil one’s attacks and refuted the devil’s attempts to make him yield to human error.

Assist us Lord, in understanding that your Holy Will is to be done, for you have drawn up specific plans for our lives. It is important to realize that our growth in spirituality will thwart any evil designs being placed as obstacles in our path, to hinder us and prevent our salvation. Your Holy Word, Lord, is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path and will suffice in guiding and governing us every step of the way, providing divine sustenance and leading us by the Power of your Spirit on the right path, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
