Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4
Heavenly Father, everywhere we look today, we find suffering, pain and sorrow. We seek your Holy Face, to shine upon us, giving us hope for tomorrow, for you are our Refuge, Fortress and Stronghold and our lives find meaning when we dwell in you and have you dwell in us. We find joy, comfort, solace and consolation when we derive strength from your eternal faithfulness, and when we remember and rejoice in your Holy and unchangeable promises given to us.
Those who are crushed with sorrow and pain will be comforted by the assurance of your love and mercy for mankind, when they turn to you and acknowledge you as God. Their fears shall be assuaged, either in this life, with the consolations of the Spirit, or when they are standing penitently before you, in the life to come. For there is a mourning which is a worldly sorrow, as well as a godly sorrow, working repentance to salvation.
Lord, there is always a purpose and a blessing in our pain. When Jesus was broken by a crown of thorns, nails, and spear, the blood was poured out that cleanses out all sin, proving to be redemption for the broken. We are the body of Christ, sent to represent Him. We need to console and be consoled. To repent and be uplifted. To ask your forgiveness for our sins and be healed of our brokenness, simultaneously being helpful in getting healing and comfort to those around us, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
